Rasa Malas was born out of my love for Indian culture, creativity and jewelry. Rasa aesthetics refer to the essence, mood, flavor, or dominant feeling evoked from Indian art forms such as dance, theater or music.

Malas are sacred in nature, primarily used for japa meditation, or chanting and recitation to achieve a meditative state. There are always 108 beads, plus a “Guru” or counter bead in every mala.

It is my hope that each Rasa Mala evokes its own unique flavor and purpose for the individual who wears it. Each mala is lovingly hand-made and considered. Each mala may be used for its original purpose and as an adornment, hence “prayer wear.”
